Omega-3 - Help Your Pet Live a Long and Healthy Life

Two easy ways to increase your pet's Omega-3 and give him a healthy and happy life

Did you know Omega-3 is just as important for pets as it is for you? It's true. Just as Omega-3 gives you many health benefits with their essential fatty acids, your pet dog or cat can benefit from Omega-3 too. For the healthiest pet possible, consider adding Omega-3 to your dog or cat's diet with these two foods.

Sardines

Sardines are a great way to get more Omega-3 into your dog's diet (yours too!). These little fish are powerhouses pack with all the essential fatty acids your dog needs for optimum health and long life.

Sardines come in cans with several small sardines or large cans with larger sized sardines. For small dogs and cats, one sardine per day is enough to give your pet all the Omega-3 he needs. For larger dogs, give him several small sardines or one large sardine per day. If you don't want to give a sardine every day, substitute a meal with sardines to your pet once a week in place of his regular food.

Cats love sardines. Most dogs love them too but it sometimes takes them a bit to get used to them. However, once they do, they begin to look forward to their sardine treat every day. When looking for sardines, it's best to buy those packed in water or oil. Be careful about buying sardines that are seasoned, with spicy ingredients - plain is best.

Eggs

Raw eggs are another way to increase Omega-3 in your pet's diet. A raw egg once every other day or a meal of several raw eggs once per week works great and you'll find your pet loves them.

When buying eggs for Omega-3 benefits, choose those that are high in DHA. The chickens that produce these eggs are fed food that is closest to what they would naturally choose if they could. As a result, you get much better eggs, higher in beneficial essential fatty acids.

The Benefits of Sardines and Eggs for Your Pet

Feeding your dog or cat sardines and eggs has many benefits. The essential fatty acids in these foods help boost their immune and hormone system as well as protect against heart disease and retinal atrophy.
