Omega-3: Get More Bang for Your Buck!

Combine Omega-3 and green tea for twice the health benefits

So, you know how good Omega-3 is for your health. But, what if it could get even better? That's what scientist Dr. Fereidoon Shahidi is now saying after his research. Learn how you can combine Omega-3 and green tea for extra health benefits.

The Study Shows...

Dr. Shahidi, research professional in the Department of Biochemistry at Memorial University in Newfoundland, Canada knew that green tea has many health benefits. He also knew that the body doesn't absorb the polyphenols in green tea by itself very well. This information led Dr. Shahidi to an experiment to find what could help the human body absorb the healthy polyphenols available in green tea at a higher, more beneficial rate.

He performed a test where he exposed mice to carcinogens known to cause the mice to have many malignant tumors. He gave the mice a compound with both green tea and Omega-3. The result was that the mice had absolutely no tumors whatsoever.

This study is very encouraging. Green tea is high in antioxidants proven to reduce the risk of cancer. Study after study has proven the health benefits of Omega-3. Both green tea and Omega-3 are health powerhouses in and of themselves, but now we have proof that together, you can get even more health benefits.

Dr. Shahidi says they need more studies but agrees that nothing but good can come from combining these two healthy elements into your diet. You can do this by drinking three cups of quality, organic green tea and taking a fish oil supplement, high in essential fatty acids daily.

If you don't care for Omega-3 supplements, try adding more fish to your diet. Eat wild-caught salmon, herring, or albacore tuna three or more times per week. You can also get your daily dose of Omega-3 by eating just a 1/4 cup of walnuts or 3 tablespoons of flax seed.

Getting beneficial amounts of green tea and Omega-3 is easy. Talk to your doctor before taking Omega-3 supplements or simply begin getting more Omega-3 in your diet naturally by eating more fish.
